In Michigan, it’s always gutsy to have a ceremony outdoors. But, man! Looking back, I wish we had. Derek and Cassie lucked out and the weather was perfect. By perfect, I seriously mean it. Sunny, but a nice cool breeze. It was a perfect backdrop for their wedding. They had their ceremony in Kellogg Park, and reception at the Meeting House Grand Ballroom. Any wedding where the groom runs a 5k the morning of his big day is pretty rad. I know we have said this before, but I’ll say it again… we are so thankful for the job we have. It allows us to meet amazing people and they welcome us with open arms to one of their most meaningful days. During the course of the wedding we discovered through conversation that Cassie’s parents had a house very close to our cabin on lake Huron. A few weeks after the wedding we got to meet up with them again on vacation and share some amazing home made brandy and watch some fireworks. Congrats and best wishes on everything you two!
Monday, again. Whoa! What an amazing weekend we had! Friday we met with a super rad couple. We’ve been chatting with them via email for the last few months about their upcoming wedding. We hung out in Ann Arbor, and walked around the campus and took some photos. Then we headed up to Traverse City for a weekend of camping and second shooting with the awesome Dan Stewart. The weather was absolutely perfect, and Sunday I had a great senior session with a second? maybe third? cousin of mine. But, to address the subject of this blog post; a few months ago we headed down to Cincinnati for some fun with two awesome friends of ours: Nicole and Justin. They lived in the ‘nati a few years ago, so they were awesome guides to the highlights of the city. One of the best stops was at Mayday, we went there to get some dogs and brews, and boy! if you ever are in cinci make sure you hit that place! Seriously, one of the best hotdogs I’ve ever had! Also, they just started hosting weddings, and events, so can someone please get married there so we can photograph it?!? Justin and Nicole were recently engaged so I, after insisting, got them to stand in front of the camera for some photos. Aren’t they the cutest? Yes. Yes, they are.
I can’t believe its August already! Where has the time gone? Man, this wedding was so good! Natalie and Brad totally killed it. Their wedding was perfectly them. It was at the Blue Dress Barn in Benton Harbor which is awesome . The day started off kind of sprinkly, and there was talk of moving the ceremony inside. Luckily the weather cleared up and we got to take advantage of all of the beautiful locations on the property. We ended up sneaking away with them after dinner when the sun was going down and the light was perfect. Totally worth it! Oh yeah, ending the night with a bonfire and s’mores? YES.
Ahhh..a lovely afternoon wedding. I will never forget the sun that shined all day, the smiles on everyone’s faces and the happiness between Kate and Randy. The ceremony was at the beautiful St. Francis of Assisi while their reception was Wellers. Wellers has such a great atmosphere, its so warm and inviting. Honestly, its one the most beautiful places to photograph a wedding reception. My favorite time of day is when the light is streaming through the windows all warm and goldeny right when the dancing got started.
I just love these guys!
